Half Portraits
Joann at http://journeysinart.blogspot.com/ posted the directions for half portraits on her blog. I have been practicing to improve my people drawing skills so I decided to give it a try. It was actually fun to do. I also became aware of how left to right oriented I am. I guess because I'm right handed I always start my faces from left to right. So, it was a bit of a challenge for me to complete the portraits when I had the right side of the picture. Yet, to me, the features in the portraits where I had the right side came out looking more like the original photo.
I have seen this type of half picture exercise in some workbooks I have for my second graders, but I thought it might be difficult for kids. She has used it with kids. I'm thinking of giving it a try with my students.
Again, it was a very good exercise and fun to do.
Best Wishes,
A.Marie

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job on your half portraits.
ReplyDeleteI used this exercise with 3rd and 5th grade classes years ago and they did really well with them. I bet second graders would be fine also.
These are terrific.
