Sketches - Figure Drawing

I want to draw the human body better, so I have been doing a study of the masters .This I copied from Degas' Woman Combing her Hair. I also did Renoir's portrait A Young Girl Bathing, but as I looked at the the painting I decided the girl looks underaged by today's standards, and now I don't feel right posting the sketch. I think it came out good though. I'm getting better at drawing the female body, and I'm getting the sketches done quicker too.

This is a pose I copied from a Renoir painting. I changed the clothes, and put her in the Santa suit.

These are drawings of my own hands.

These are the last of the sketches I have for today. I am very pleased with the results.

Best Wishes,

A.Marie

Quick Sketches

These are some ladies I was inspired to sketch after watching tv or browsing the internet. If I have used anyone's copyrighted image, please know it is not for sale, just for practice. The hat in the top right I saw on the internet. It is a straw hat with white pearls around the band, Gorgeous. The girl with the scarf was inspired by Denise Nicholson while I was watching In the Heat of the Night. She had on a scarf that had that type of design and her hair was curly like the girl's in the sketch. I've always admired the actress and I enjoy watching In the Heat of the Night.

This was inspired by a lesson at drawspace.com, a very good sight for anyone wanting to learn to draw.

I think this is my best tree ever. I learned to do it at drawspace.com .
Some ginger candy from my candy dish. I like this candy. It's very good when you have a cough also. It knocked this cough I was having right out, when cough drops weren't doing a thing.

Did I say I had a great time sketching this week?

Best Wishes,

A.Marie

Everyday Matters

EDM Challenge #249 - draw a coffee pot

EDM Challenge #3 - draw your mug

I joined Everyday Matters, a yahoo group for illustrators and people who want inspiration and ideas for art. I'm going to refer to Everyday Matters as EDM from now on. EDM also promotes keeping a visual journal. That is something I think I would like. They have a lot of activities going on over there, but right now I am mainly interested in the weekly challenges. I completed two so far. I took one from the end, "draw a coffee pot", and one from the beginning, "draw your mug". Some of the ideas I would probably not think of drawing them, and some I have in past art I created. As I go through the list I see a chance to post some of my previously done pieces, mostly quick sketches and studies. From the blogs I have read by other members everyone seems to be having a lot of fun with it.

I did several sketches not related to EDM this week while I am on vacation. I will post them under a separate post. I am going to post as many as I can today, because it has been difficult, to say the least, to post with my computer. Darn viruses.

Best Wishes,

A.Marie
